Which states require ADV?


The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 pre-empts the right of states to require "ADV" in the subject line.
The ADV requirement general means that the email message must contain the letters ADV followed by a colon (:). Some variations of this requirement for adult content senders include adding the word ADULT in the subject line as well.

For example: Alaska requires ADV:ADLT (ADULT without the U) while Arkansas requires ADV:ADULT (ADULT WITH the U).
